7 MORE STAGING HINTS TO SELL YOUR HOME by Zina O’Callaghan

7 More Staging Hints to Sell your Home

Staging to sell is certainly different than staging for living and comfort.

When you make the decision to put on the “eyes of a Buyer” you will make strides in getting your home sale ready. You want your home to have an inviting ambiance and the perception of being an “easy to care for” home. Why work with Zina and St. Joseph Group?

  1. Invite Your Buyer Joyfully through the Front Door

Make your home look inviting from the street. Invest in a new fresh welcome doormat. Clean the exterior lights (a little window cleaner goes a long way), sweep away any debris (leaves/twigs), wipe down your garage door, dust the corners of the exterior doors and remove all clutter from the interior entrance. Prepare to sell

Make a fresh first impression as they enter.

  2. Say “goodbye” to heavy drapes and window valances

Yes, you loved them when you bought them. Yes, you went through time and effort to pick the right fabric. Unfortunately, most Buyers do not appreciate these draperies. You are getting ready to part with your home… first part with your window drapery.

You will be amazed at how removing heavy draperies and window valances will make your windows and rooms look bigger, ceilings taller, brighten your room, and draw your eyes up and outdoors.

Bare windows are “in”. Leave your windows bare or replace them with sheer curtains.

  3. Crisp and clean white towels hung in bathrooms.

People want the sense of a clean home.  Worn towels in a bathroom can be a turnoff to some fussy Buyers. Invest in new white towels. Iron out the wrinkles if needed. You can take them with you when you sell and enjoy them in your new home.

    Clean sells!

  4. Reduce the rugs

You want your space to feel spacious. Rugs can break up the flow of a room, confuse the eye and make your room feel smaller.

Reduce the number of rugs in your home to a few main areas such as under your bed in the master bedroom or under the dining room table. Be certain the rugs aren’t too small. Tiny rugs can make a space feel smaller than it is.

  5. Reflect on Mirrors

Mirrors reflect natural light and can bring joy to a space. Mirrors can bring depth to a room and happily brighten a dark space.

  6. Spacious Clean Counters in Kitchens and Bathrooms

Put away your blender, toaster, and juicer from your countertops. Empty and clean countertops help Buyers envision how they will use the space for themselves and gives them ideas of where to put their appliances and gadgets.

  7. Hire a Landscaper for a Big Spring Cleanup

A professionally cleaned landscape can make a significant impression on curb appeal. It keeps a Buyer’s mind from going to “all the yard-work that needs to be done in this house”.  Instead, help Buyers focus on all the beautiful attributes of your outdoors.
